In the beginning…

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Gen. 1:1

God as Creator is eternal and therefore not bound by time. In the beginning He was already there. That means He is in your future, and He is in your past, and He surrounds you at present! Isn’t that wonderful to think about as we start a New Year?

I know that the New Year is well underway now and I am very late with my good wishes, but they are still sincere. Our New Year’s Eve and January 1st was busy with this precious little girl. Mommy and daddy twisted our arms to get us to keep her for New Year’s Eve so they could have a night out. Ha!!

IMG_1149We celebrated NYE by taking Katie shopping for some new shoes, going to Target (one of her favorite stores), and eating at her favorite restaurant – Cheeburgers – because she loves the music and all the attention she gets.

New Year’s Day we spent some time with MeMaw and PePaw in the morning and then came home to cook our traditional New Year’s fare of black eyed peas, cabbage, and roast beef and watch a little football.

I read on several of the blogs that I follow that instead of having New Year’s resolutions they are choosing a word that they want to focus on for 2010 – the word will describe you and your approach to life for the coming year. Very interesting... I think that my word might be focused.

Right now I am trying to focus on taking care of all of this

so I’ll be ready to go back to work tomorrow and so that we’ll have plenty of room in front of the TV on Thursday for this

  1. Nothing, absolutely nothing can hold an candle to that little girl. As a grandmother of seven, I'll drop just about anything I'm doing to spend time with the little ones. In fact, I will often call their mommies and ask to have them for the weekend!

Uhm, a word to focus on. That is very interesting. I'm going to have to concentrate hard and come up with one for me. I really like that idea.

Keep coming by the blog this month. All recipes in January. Next month it will be a mixture of food and crafts. In March - who knows☺

  2. "Focus" is an excellent word for 2010!

Katie is adorable! Target is also one of my favorite stores.

Many blessings in the New Year!
